San Francisco, August 12, 2020 – With the world collectively on the hunt for a cure, University Games announced today the release of a cure to a different ailment, boredom, in the form of a card game: Antidote. The light strategy game puts players in the shoes of a lab researcher, racing to find the correct antidote to an unknown toxin that has been in the lab. Players have to find the antidote before the disease hits the public. Developed by Dennis Hoyle of Bellwether Games, Antidote is a battle of wits as players use deduction, deception and strategy to avoid sickness and death.
While University Games is no stranger to the entering new game subcategories, Antidote marks its entrance into a new segment of games that blend the critical thinking of strategy games with the uncontrollable fun of party games.
University Games Co-Founder, Bob Moog explained, “Since the launch of Murder Mystery Party games in 1985 we try to find an on-trend, compelling theme for new games every year. So timely that we have the antidote to boredom during quarantine.”
The launch of this new "gateway game" category coincides with University Games’ 35th anniversary. Antidote will be available to the public August 20, and has been approved for two to seven players, ages 13 and up.
